The Regional Policy Initiative for Circular Economy is being implemented by the consortium of organizations in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam with the support from Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). The consortium partners are Intellectuals Center (I.C) – Nepal, CWAS-CRDF CEPT University – India, Institute of Disaster Management: Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (IDM KUET) – Bangladesh, and Institute of Strategy, Policy on Natural Resources & Environment (ISPONRE) – Vietnam. Within this initiative, a regional policy dialogue on circular economy is planned which could represent a collaborative effort to promote circular economy principles and sustainable waste management practices in the region. The event will have a number of presentations, panel discussions, group activities, and interactive sessions that focus on resource optimization, waste reduction & segregation with inclusive citizen participation toward the circular economy transition. 

Objective of the Regional Policy Dialogue

  • To gather a regional perspective on Circular Economy Transition through the experiences shared by experts from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Australia.
  • To discuss on how we can adopt circular economy principles and initiatives at the community/local level while contributing to global targets such as the SDG.
  • To gather the key recommendations in developing an effective policy guide and strategic campaign guide document
  • To discuss the key aspects of governance in implementing Circular Economy related programs along with a possible financial mechanism 

Post Event 

The key recommendations and suggestions from the regional policy dialogue will be included in the two documents: Policy guide and the Strategic campaigning guide on effective citizens’ participation in the circular economy transition in South Asia. After finalization, these will be shared among all participants and relevant stakeholders.
