Reena Bajracharya is a DRRM specialist serving in the realms of disaster management, risk assessment, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and system development since 2015. She has a Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management & Climate Change Adaptation from Lund University, Sweden, and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Kathmandu University, Nepal.
She is the Finalist of the 2022 WIN DRR (Women in Disaster Leadership Award) and has working experience with different international humanitarian organizations in South Asia, specifically in Nepal and Bangladesh. She was extensively involved in the post-disaster response and recovery after the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake in Nepal.
Moreover, she has worked closely with the Government of Nepal and provided them with technical support in developing the national integrated Disaster Information Management System – BIPAD Portal (https://bipadportal.gov.np/ ), Impact Based Forecasting Dashboard to trigger anticipatory actions for floods in Nepal, and VisRisk platform to effectively communicate multi-hazard risk information. Ms. Bajracharya also has experience working as a Consultant Researcher in ISET Nepal, DCA Nepal, and the American Red Cross in Bangladesh.
Her interest areas include Disaster Risk Reduction, Early Warning Systems, Forecast – based Financing, Impact – based Forecasting, and Risk Assessment.
Apart from her work, she loves traveling to new places. She is also a foodie.
